Kaitlin is not counting down, but we are! Just 4 months until she comes home. The time has gone by quickly. She is such a hard worker and the harder she works, the happier she is! Here are a few paragraphs from this week's email:
"Friday we taught a lot of lessons, which is always nice. I hate wasting
time. I like working consistently and hard. It just feels really
good. Dedication is a doorway to revelation and divine guidance I
think. We found a lady named Antoliana who is very poor and rather
uneducated, and as we sat down to teach her, I felt very deeply the
reality of the love her Father in Heaven has for her. As we bore
testimony of that love and that as a result of the love, He has restored
all of the truth to the earth again, I felt the Lord's help. I felt
the Spirit's presence, and I witnessed the message of the Restoration
being carried unto her heart. It was a sweet experience. We'll go back
tomorrow. Her daughter is a friend of Eli's, and we want to teach her
as well.
Saturday we taught José and Miguel, and they both came to church
again yesterday. They're good boys. Their father is really warming up
to Hna. Paipa, so we need to talk to him about baptism again before she
leaves. He's not such a fan of "Yankees," as he calls me. But I still
like him. He's ridiculous, but there's something of good in him."
"Oh, by the way, on the 21st of February, I finished reading the Book of
Mormon in Spanish for the first time. It was an incredible experience.
I can testify that this book was written by prophets of God under the
direction of the Holy Ghost. It contains the words of eternal life and
leads the humble seeker of truth to Jesus Christ. The peace and
satisfaction I feel as I read it, as well as the answers and direction
for my life I've found within its pages, are undeniable witnesses to me
of its truthfulness and of its divine origin. Because I read the Book
of Mormon, I know that Christ lives. I know that He really did execute
the Atonement and thereby conquered both sin and death. I know the
reality of God's plan for us and that lasting happiness comes only as we
are obedient to that plan. I am forever grateful for the impact of the
Book of Mormon on my life."
